Thrift Store Opens in Fairview
Janelle Penley and her mom, Lois Greenwood opened Simply Saving Thrift Store last month because, “with the economy slowing down, we knew folks needed to find clothing and household items at a really low price,” Penley explained.
Located at 1346 E. Charlotte Highway, the store offers a full range of clothing for children and adults, plenty of toys, household items and knick-knacks. Store hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm.
Penley is a foster care parent who saw a need for clothing and children’s items at a very reduced price. “Some of the children that have come to me bring clothes in just a trash bag. They usually don’t fit them or have holes in them,” said Penley. “You wind up having to get them all new wardrobes.” With that in mind Penley and her mom started a store that offered needed items at prices “even lower than Goodwill. We also offer 20% off all purchases to folks who are foster care parents. They just need to let us know,” Penley said.
While the store will gladly accept donations, they are not a non-profit organization and cannot issue tax-deduction slips, but anyone who donates receives a 20% off coupon for a future purchase.
Penley and Greenwood purchase most of the store’s items in bulk at extremely low cost from various suppliers and then pass on the savings to their customers.
Everyone is welcome to stop by and benefit from the low prices and wide variety. For more information on the store or donating items, call 628-2229.
