Food for Fairview July Report

Kid’s Corner
The sleepy town of Fairview will soon come alive with the buzzing of adventurous school children engaged in summer activities. Summer is also when some struggling families are not able to supplement their children’s daily meals with school lunches. Therefore, the pantry is asking for summer food donations of kid-friendly food such as Spaghetti O’s (meat products), individual fruit cups, pudding cups, dry cereal, etc., to stock a Kid’s Corner.
Thank You!
Food for Fairview thanks the sophomore class of A.C. Reynolds’s High School for organizing a two-part project consisting of baby-themed donations and a canned goods donation drive. Thank you to everyone that participated.
Food for Fairview thanks the Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Committee for their 2010 donation to the pantry, as well as past years.
Eligibility Update Begins July 1
The Star-News of Wilmington reports: “Less stringent income rules that take effect July 1 will make it easier for North Carolinians to get help with buying food… The state’s federally funded Food and Nutrition Services program now is available to applicants whose gross income is less than 130% of the federal poverty level. It will change to a gross income of less than 200% in July.”
Gerton Now Served
Food for Fairview is now accepting families from the Gerton area that meet criteria as well.
Donations Needed
For July we need nonperishable meat products (no tuna, please), dry cereal, kid-friendly meal products for the Kid’s Corner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, baby diapers, toddler pull-ups, baby wipes and baby food. (Yes, we are in need of baby items..)
